Sixth, seventh, and eighth grades are scheduled one Physical Eduction class per week. Eighth grade exploratory meets four days per week. This subject grade is based on a point system for each nine week period. Points may be earned in the following manner:
1. Ten points per class for dressing out. "Dressing out" means wearing the required uniform, socks, and tennis shoes. Tennis shoes MUST be worn for P.E. For safety, girls hair MUST be pulled back completely using only a pony tail holder or head band. Failure to wear approved P.E. uniform will result in loss of points which could greatly effect the P.E. grade.
2. Ten points per class for participation, effort, and cooperation.
3. A student will not be downgraded for lack of skill, although he/she should make an effort toward achieving his/her personal best.
4. Should there be a reason for not participating (illness, injury), a student will be excused with a note from a parent explaining the situation. Should the excuse extend to more than two consecutive PE classes, a note from the doctor and a release to return to activity will be required. The student will still be required to dress-out. The student will be required to write information on the current unit to earn participation points.
Please refer to the student handbook for any additional information.
